Criminal Conviction Offence
In Canada, there are three broad categories of criminal offences under the criminal code.
- Summary conviction
- Indictable offences
- Dual procedure criminal offences (hybrid or a
Crown electable offence)
Generally speaking, these offences differ in terms of the severity of the crime and the resulting sentence. A summary conviction is resolved without the use of a jury or indictment.
